Minutes of the IEEE Buffalo Section Board Meeting

A meeting of the IEEE Buffalo Section Board was held at University At Buffalo Davis Hall, Room 230A, in Amherst, NY, on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 6:30 PM.

Chair’s Note:

The Secretary is on convalescent leave and tasks have been assigned temporarily to a board member.

Developments in the Buffalo Section’s Balance Sheet:

The Treasurer presented a quarterly review.


Organizational Matters

By unanimous vote, funds were authorized for Facebook advertising. (Koch/Ott)


By motion, the Section offered their congratulations to the Rochester Section’s 100th Anniversary Joint Chapters Meeting.


The Student Chapter President reported on the results of the Region 1 Student Conference. The Student Chapter was runner-up in the Micromouse Competition. The Chapter also received positive feedback on its presentation of laser targeting systems.

The Chair reported on the Buffalo Section membership development plans submitted to Region 1 for the IEEE Sections Conference. (Koch/Loui)

The Chair also reported on the Computer Society’s CAP program offering online courses for larger corporations.

The Vice Chair reported on the upcoming IDETC Conference on Aug. 17.


The Committee Chair of Advertisements reported on the monthly meeting of the new AICN Engineering Consultants Network, Apr. 14. (Henderson/Moskal)


The Chapter Chair of Power Systems discussed preparations for the Niagara Transformer Tour on Apr. 23.



Committee Actions

The Chapter Chair of Microwave Theory & Techniques proposed the presentation of Real Life Engineering for June.


It was agreed that the next meeting of the Board would be held at UB Davis Hall, [1]  Room 230A, in Amherst, NY, on Thursday, May 15, 2014.

The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
