ABSTRACT
Entergy Nuclear Northeast is part of Entergy Corporation, a global energy company based in New Orleans. Entergy owns, operates and manages ten nuclear generation plants that are among the safest and most professionally operated energy facilities in the United States. Entergy owns and operates the Indian Point Energy Center, located in Buchanan, N.Y. Westchester County. Indian Point provides power to millions of homes, thousands of businesses, and hundreds of critical transportation, health and municipal systems.
Nuclear energy is a price-stable energy source and does not fluctuate like natural gas prices or other fossil fuels. For New York State's electrical grid, closing Indian Point would reduce the amount of power available by 11 percent. Resulting blackouts will cost area businesses an additional $3 billion.
Total attendees is limited, please register early. Minimum age to tour the plant is 16 due to safety requirement.
All reservations must be received by October 2.
Arrive at the Energy Center between 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM for security check.
Visitors will need a photo ID with them the day of the visit. Each visitor needs to make sure that the address on the registration form matches the one on the id. (sometimes when people move they do not change the address on their license).
None US citizen need to bring his/her passport with valid visa or green card for permenent resident.
Cameras and photo capable electronics such as cell phones or blackberries are not permitted in the plant.
Minimum clothing requirements are long pants and short-sleeved shirts that cover the shoulders. We recommend cotton or natural fiber clothing. You will be issued safety equipment for your tour at the facility.
Shorts, open toe foot ware or sneakers are not allowed to be worn on the tour.
Tour participants must be fully mobile. Anyone with a cast, wheelchair or crutches may not tour the plant.
Radium dial watches should not be worn on a plant tour as they may set off radiation monitor alarms.
Tour participants should not bring dangerous weapons on a plant tour, including pocketknives, firearms, explosives or incendiary devices.
Anyone having received nuclear medicine for diagnosis, treatment or therapy within two weeks prior to the tour may not tour the plant because they may set off radiation monitor alarms.
