Sarnoff Symposium, April 18-19, 2005 Deadline for paper submission: October 29, 2004 2004 Event Highlights: IEEE Princeton Section's annual, global telecommunications conference was held this year for the first time in the Nassau Inn in the historic downtown district of Princeton, New Jersey. The IEEE Sarnoff Symposium has for many years been the premier telecommunications event in New Jersey attracting technical and industry experts from the United States and from overseas. This year, industry executives have been converging on downtown Princeton, NJ, on April 26 and 27 to exchange their views on the industry and to hear keynote speeches by renown technology and business leaders (full press release). At the opening reception on Monday evening Symposium attendees were treated to a glimpse of what lies ahead in technology by Dr. Adam Drobot, a veteran of the industry and currently Senior Vice President, Applied Technology for Telcordia Technologies, a company with a rich history as an agent of change in the industry. In the Symposium keynote address Eric Shepcaro, Vice President - Application Networking, AT&T, analyzed business and market trends over the next several years. Two executive panels looked at today’s hot topics: wireless convergence and military communications. The technical presentations included Wireless LAN/WAN/MAN, Ultrawideband Systems, Broadband Wired Networks, Network Security & Cryptography, Signal Processing for Communications, VoIP & QoS, Military Communications, Software Radio, Optical Communications, Mobile 3G+ systems & Ad Hoc networks, Multi/Adaptive Antenna Systems, Microwave Devices & Photonics, Multimedia Systems & Networking and Satellite Communications. The Technical Program featured 36 papers in six sessions. New for this year wasthe addition of two poster sessions with 12 posters presenting emerging topics. The Symposium includds an Exhibition where manufacturers of components, technologies and systems as well as telecom service providers were showing their latest products and technologies.
