IEEE ( Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is the world's largest technical professional association with more than 350,000 members in 150 countries. Through its members, the IEEE is a leading authority in technical areas ranging from computer engineering, biomedical technology and telecommunications, to electric power, aerospace and consumer electronics among others.
Members of the IEEE agree to enhance quality of life through technology while at the same time accepting adherence to a strict code of ethics. This code guides members to make decisions in the best interest of humanity with regard to safety, environment, cost and possible conflict of interest.
The IEEE Princeton Central Jersey (PCJ) Section (formed on July 1, 1947 ) provides a local forum for its members to meet and exchange views on technical, educational, professional or other areas of interest. The Section encourages communication and activities with Student Branches while encouraging the students' involvement in professional activities. On a broader level, the IEEE offers a medium for members to establish communication with representatives of government, national and international organizations.
PCJ Section Mission
IEEE Princeton Central Jersey Section shall strive for the advancement of the theory and practice of electrical engineering, electronics, radio, and allied branches of engineering and of the related arts and sciences, and the maintenance of high professional standards among its members, all in consonance with the IEEE Constitution and Bylaws.
PCJ Section Programs
The Section and its Chapters shall hold meetings for the transaction of the regular business of the Section and for the presentation of papers and their discussion, and shall aid in promoting close cooperation and good fellowship among its members. The PCJ Section territory includes Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, and Somerset counties, and may be enlarged, reduced, or otherwise altered by the IEEE Regional Activities Board. All members of the IEEE with IEEE mailing addresses within the territory of the Section are automatically members of this Section.
The section currently has ten Chapters (Antennas and Propagation/Electronic Devices/Microwave Theory, Broadcast Technology, Circuit and Systems, Communications and Consumer Electronics, Engineering in Medicine and Biology, Lasers and Electro-Optics, Power Engineering, Robotics and Automation, Signal Processing) and five Student Branches ( College of New Jersey , DeVry University , Middlesex County College , Princeton University and Rutgers University ).
The Section also manages various activities through affinity groups, including GOLD (Graduate Of the Last Decade - GOLD is an initiative created to address the needs and concerns of Engineers from 0 to 10 years out of College) and PACE (Professional Activities Committees for Engineers - PACE network promotes the professional interests of IEEE's U.S. members and provides a mechanism for communication of members' views on their professional needs), and manages/sponsors several IEEE conferences.
