To work equally well as an independent contributor or to provide
guidance & direction to lead multi-discipline teams of engineers in
power system design & development related tasks, including:
- Coordinate electrical power system interfaces and functions
between major ship/system electrical sources and loads (i.e.,
combat/weapon systems & subsystems);
- Define power system elements include AC or DC power generation and
storage, conversion & conditioning, distribution &
protection, control & monitoring;
Execute power system efforts over the entire system design &
development life-cycle, through production & into fleet
operations. Efforts may also involve new business pursuit, proposal
definition, concept design, or evolution into next generation
designs;
- Generate technical data packages (e.g., design analyses,
specifications, drawings, diagrams, ICDs, related plans &
procedures) related to design, production or field/fleet support
efforts;
- Resolve power system design, production or fleet operational
issues, problems, or failures at the System/Subsystem level. Efforts
include determine root cause, assess system impacts (including cost,
schedule & technical) and develop & implement options and
corrective actions to resolve. Develop related technical change
presentations
- Develop/modify power related operational/special test plans &
procedures, including descriptions of operation and maintenance
(DOM)
- Develop/Present briefings to internal & external customers on
the whole array of power system related topics.
- Position will require hands on operation in Engineering Test
Systems (ETS) and on occasion at US or UK Field sites or submarines.
- This is an ideal position if you are interested in expanding your
knowledge of power design and working hands-on with SSBN and/or SSGN
equipment from Ships power sources to missile or other payloads,
leading to an opportunity to become a key contributor to future
designs for a variety of subsystems and systems.
The candidate should apply power system & equipment technical
expertise to a wide range of efforts (per above), and has full knowledge
of other related disciplines (e.g., power architectures, mechanical
infrastructure), detailed experience with Systems Engineering
principles, and general knowledge of other related disciplines.
Required Key Skills
- Systems Engineering ( Experience with systems engineering design
lifecycle & processes).
- Electronic & Electrical power systems design & development
engineering
Basic Qualifications:
A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with a
minimum of 6 years directly related experience or a Bachelors degree in
Electrical Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 8 years
directly related experience is required. Equivalent years of directly
related experience may be considered in lieu of educational
