Ballston Spa High School Starts Robotics Club
Team Robonators Looking For Help

BALLSTON SPA - Ballston Spa National Bank, teachers and students have joined together to create Team Robonators at Ballston Spa High School. They will be competing as a rookie team in the Finger lakes Regional FIRST Robotics Competition in March 2009. This is a nationally and globally recognized initiative with the purpose "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology” or FIRST. A FIRST Robotics team provides students with the wonderful opportunity to participate in a "Sport of the Mind". Students who participate on FIRST teams are twice as likely to pursue a Science and Technology career and four times as likely to pursue a career specifically in Engineering. The official kick off for the event in January 3rd at which time the team will have five weeks to design, build, and ship a robot that will complete the assigned task.

The team is in need of mentors. There is quite literally a job for anyone who wants to help. Companies and/or employees who are interested in supporting the team or mentoring can contact Diane Irwin, Science Coordinator, directly at 884-7150 x2317 or dirwin (at) bscsd.org.
