ABSTRACT:
The Talk will cover some of the salient features of the Embedded System
Technologies with special emphasis on the Real Time Aspects. It starts
with the applications and highlights the conflicting requirements of the
Implementation. This brings out the parts or sub assemblies (Hardware
and Software) that constitute the Embedded System. Also brings out the
features that are relevant to choose the RTOS that forms the major
element in the design and Implementation of Real-Time Systems. The Tools
that are used in the Build-Download and Debug Phase will be discussed,
to bring out the major attributes in the choice of the RTOS.
The talk ends with a note on the design of a Real Time Kernel or
Executive that can be built using the RTOS or can be custom developed to
handle most of Uniprocessor Embedded Applications.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Prof. Jayaraman is currently Chief of Embedded Competency Centre at
Mistral Solutions, Bangalore. He received his ME in Electronics from
BITS Pilani, and has about 30 years' experience in various capacities in
the industry and training/education. Starting with a stint of 8 years
with ISRO, Trivandrum, he has later been involved in setting up,
managing and running several companies. He has been CEO with Cranes
Varsity and Silicon Technology Centre and Vice President with Khodays
Systems before moving to Mistral Solutions. Prof. Jayaraman is also
Visiting Faculty with IIIT-B, teaching a course in Embedded Systems.
