Advances in technologies and IT applications to enhance performance are the latest buzz in power sector. Technology in power sector has taken a quantum jump with innovations leading towards more efficient and cost effective means of Transmission and Distribution. The impact of power electronics in various modes of transmission for enhancing the operational flexibility has given a boost in application of such concepts. With the doubling of installed capacity to 2,40,000 MW envisaged over the next 10 years, new technologies like FACTS, Distribution Automation, Decentralized power Generation, micro grid, communications and IT are attracting industry.
The endeavor to optimize use of electricity is evolving. Increasing deployment of IT in Power Sector - for distribution automation, rural communication, Home automation and Security presents excellent opportunities besides using it as a tool to improve commercial and operational performance in power sector.
IEEE Bangalore Section Annual Symposium-2006 offers opportunities to professionals & students to delve into technological advances and IT applications that have made the Indian power sector exciting.

In addition, all technical papers in the areas of interest to IEEE members are also welcome.
Submission of guidelines:
Authors shall format the papers using MS word using IEEE style file and should be prepared as a single doc or ps or pdf file. Authors of accepted papers are required to submit a camera-ready full papers, register for symposium and present their paper. Only the presented papers will be published in the symposium proceedings. Preference would be given to papers submitted by IEEE members. Papers should not exceed 10 pages.
Students are especially encouraged to attend the symposium. Second Class train fare may be provided to a limited number of student authors on request.
