IEEE R10 Annual Meet 2008
Annual meet of IEEE Region 10 was held at Cambay Spa & Resort on 2nd and 3rd February 2008. This meet is an annual gathering of Section leadership, sponsored by IEEE Region 10. It was attended by around 90 senior executives of IEEE including the IEEE 2008 President Dr. Lewis M Terman, IEEE 2008 President-Elect Dr. John Vig, Region 10 Director Prof. Janina Mazierska, R10 Execom Members, Section Chairs and other IEEE dignitaries. At the Meet, Section leaders learnt how to utilize the resources of the IEEE to maximize their effectiveness as IEEE volunteers and leaders. The Meet was well attended and appreciated by all.
IEEE New Initiative Project – Gujarat Section
Under New Initiative Program of IEEE, Gujarat Section’s proposal ‘Conference Presentations online’ has been accorded approval by New Initiative Committee of IEEE HQ.
“The new initiative program is designed to identify potential new products, programs, and services that will provide significant benefit to IEEE members, customers, the technical community, the public, which promises to have a lasting impact on the IEEE.
Initiatives are of strategic importance and must demonstrate a clear benefit to IEEE. The process allows submission of a proposal at any time during the year.”
Gujarat Section’s proposal is for recommending most efficient software to webhost the conference presentations for the reference of professionals who are not participating. The recommended software will be tested thoroughly in real conference scenario for the use and effectiveness. Its financial model will be worked separately by IEEE. It is a matter of pride for India to get this project and one more feather in Gujarat Section’s cap. The project will be led by Mr Deepak Mathur (Immediate Past Chair) and Dr. Anil Roy (Section Chair).
