 Profile of Chapter Chair

 

Born in 1954, Mr. S. Rajavel passed out Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical & Electronics from Madras University in 1977 and joined Larsen & Toubro Limited, Engineering, Construction & Contracts Division in 1977. He has gained 33 years of service experience in power transmission and distribution.

Over a period of time held various responsibilities as construction engineer, resident engineer, engineering & design coordinator, Head of Quality Assurance/Quality Control, Head of Engineering Design & Research Centre - Electrical, Regional Projects Manager of Chennai Regional Office, Head of Industrial Electrification Operations for Electrical & Instrumentation and took over and continuing as Head in the cadre of Executive Vice President of Power Transmission & Distribution (Domestic).

 

      To his credit, Mr. S. Rajavel has the following acclaims:

 

  • Pioneering activities in establishing gas insulated substations up to 400 kV for various Central & State Power Utilities and Industrial Process Plants.
  • Pioneering activities in establishing extra high voltage underground cabling works for Central & State Utilities.
  • First Qualified Assessor in Larsen & Toubro Limited, Engineering & Construction Contracts Division from Batalas, UK for Quality   Assurance.
  • Currently holds the position of Vice Chair – IEEE Madras Section
  • Senior Member in IEEE.
  • Alumni – London Business School, London.
  • Created state-of-the-art Testing Laboratory at Chennai to test for compliance of IEC 61850 Protocol.

 

Spearheading more on 400 kV Extra High Voltage & 765 kV Substations to produce quality power to change the face of industry which, in turn, will improve the quality of life of people.

He is currently Executive Vice President & Head of Power Transmission & Distribution (Domestic) Independent Operating company of ECC Division of M/s Larsen &Toubro Ltd.,
