It is a pleasure to announce the formation of the joint LEOS Chapter and committee for NSW Section in 2007. Many thanks to David Moss (now in Canada) and other members who helped initially set up the Chapter in 2005, and who also attended the inaugural AGM last November.

The Chapter Secretary is Stephen Hanham. The LEOS Chapter has been made joint chapter with the Circuits and Systems and Solid State Circuits Chapters as there are increasing synergies between these areas and it will widen the opportunities for technical meetings.

I will be working with Stephen and other members to ensure we have about four technical meetings this year in the form of site visits and technical presentations. So far we have talks scheduled to be given by Dr Ian Clarke (Optium) and Professor Chennupati Jagadish (ACT LEOS Chapter and LEOS Distinguished Lecturer - Emeritus) in the pipeline, and a visit to CSIRO National Measurements Laboratory being organised. Details of these events and others will be in the next issue of Circuit, and will be emailed to members beforehand. These events can also be found at our News and events weblink on the main webpage.

I look forward to meeting you at all the technical meetings, which are a great way to keep in touch with other members and meet new people with similar interests. There are approximately 40 LEOS members and 63 SSC/CAS members in the NSW Section in January 2007.

We will set up a Chapter specific website to provide details of events and other information to members. Keep an eye on: https://www.ewh.ieee.org/r10/nsw/subpages/ch_leosssccs/ch_leosssccs.htm

If any members have relevant information or links to place on this website please forward the information to me at gtown@ics.mq.edu.au.
