Innovations Workshop - October 2009

Bookmark this page to follow the planning activities for this event.

Mar 3, 2009: Notes by Avinash Joshi.
Based on the discussion in Execom on Feb 27, here are my few thoughts on Innovation workshop:
1. It should be one day event; targeted towards Pune .
2. Since it was discussed and agreed that participation would be from working professionals, we need to make it participative since it would be difficult to maintain the alertness for an extended period.
3. Since this is the first of its kind being organized by IEEE Pune subsection, we should keep it Pune focused to begin with.
4. There are three major sectors where we could draw attention to: Automobile, IT and optionally Academic (faculties only).
5. I had a brief talk with Kamlesh Pande from Forbes Marshall. The first half could discuss about Innovation and various aspects of it. We could then make either a group of 3 people or based on the areas mentioned in item 4 to think about their organization and present what is being done, what could be done.
6. The second half would have 3 panel discussions – Innovation in Automobile, Innovation in IT and Innovation in Education of 75 minutes each – 30 minutes for presentation from the panel experts followed by Q & A, discussion
7. We could get good speakers, experts, organizations to participate at various levels since Innovation is the ‘mantra’ of the current global situation.
8. Kamlesh Pande has agreed to suggest some speakers and high profile people who could increase the visibility as well as contribute to the programme. I personally could think of (Anand Mahindra, Ratan Tata from Automobile, IIT Directors, NASSCOM / FICCI etc)
9. At this point, I am not sure whether we need to arrange some demos.
10. Once successful, we could then extend this programme to address innovation in other sectors and cities.
11. I can personally contribute in reaching out to various industries and personnel but need support from a backup team / organizing committee to do a follow up
