December

Following the Control Systems/Robotics and Automation Societies Chapter's success in April 2004 when it became the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society's Chapter of the Year, in December 2004 the chapter won the IEEE Control Systems Society's Outstanding Chapter Award. Both of the chapter's parent societies recognised the chapter's outstanding performance in the same year, a significant achievement.

The Outstanding Chapter award eligibility requirements are:

  • Level of activity, based on number and types of activities;
  • Innovations, based on developing clever ways to promote new activities or services;
  • Revitalizing an existing chapter or starting a new one.

The Outstanding Chapter Award consists of a laminated certificate on a plaque, a travel award of up to $US1,000 to attend the award ceremony in the USA, and a cheque for $US1,000 to the winning chapter.
