Chairman's Message
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), which is based in the United States , is a non-profit and technical professional organization. Her vision is in advancing global prosperity by enabling her member's career through fostering technical innovations and exchange. The notion ‘ Networking the world' has been IEEE's mission since her formation in 1963.
IEEE understands the needs of recent graduates and young professionals. The idea in establishing the missing bridge to facilitate students to become world class professionals was first mooted in Section Congress 1996. As a result, Graduate Of the Last Decade (GOLD) affinity groups were launched in various Sections as pilot project to evaluate its feasibility. The feedback was positive and since then, more Sections started their own GOLD affinity groups to meet needs of the target audience, which comprises of graduates from within 10 years of their first professional degree.
IEEE Singapore GOLD Affinity Group was approved in September 2003. Since then, the pioneer committee members have displayed active volunteerism and through proactive participation, foundation is gradually entrenched and value-added activities are now in the pipeline. We desire to see greater networks be established among members and non-members of the same age group; to create a common platform for sharing and learning among the young professionals. And these, eventually, takes on the role of volunteers to the younger generation by imparting knowledge and experiences to juniors who had yet graduated.
