This message was sent to Jeff on behalf of Marc T. Apter, Chair, IEEE Regional Activities Board:
Dear Jeffery Friedhoffer,
The IEEE Regional Activities Board is recognizing the IEEE Baltimore Section for outstanding longevity in promoting the engineering process of creating, developing, integrating, sharing, and applying knowledge about electro and information technologies and sciences for the benefit of humanity and the profession. The IEEE Baltimore Section was established on 16 December 1904 and will celebrate its 100th Anniversary in 2004. An anniversary award banner has been prepared for the Section that carries the following citation:
IEEE Baltimore Section
"Service to the Profession for 100 Years."
Moshe Kam, 2004 Region 2 Director, will be contacted by RAD staff to coordinate an appropriate event to present this banner award to your Section. The award banner will be presented at an occasion determined by your Section and your Regional Director.
On behalf of the entire IEEE Regional Activities Board, please convey our congratulations to the members of the IEEE Baltimore Section for having achieved this honor. Of the 304 IEEE Sections, only 15 Sections have celebrated 100-year anniversaries.
Sincerely,
Marc T. Apter
2004 Chair - IEEE Regional Activities Board
Here is a great new feature for the IEEE Email Alias Service. It now includes a new optional feature to help IEEE members manage the amount of unsolicited commercial email (UCE), or spam, they receive. The service is offered free-of-charge to all IEEE Email Alias users. To opt-in to this new service please visit the IEEE Web site at:
The Baltimore Section of the IEEE is conducting a survey to determine the level of interest in establishing a local consultant's network. This would be organised as an Affinity Group following the IEEE guidelines. The primary focus of the group would be to facilitate peer networking. It would also provide a central focus for publicising the capabilities of the members. There is also the possibility of providing services to appropriate organizations in the area, such as speakers or technology group leaders.
If you are interested or have further questions, either as a potential member or as a member of industry interested in these services, please contact David Pfaltzgraff at pfaltzgraff@computer.org. He may also be reached at (410)775-1325 or:

Members now have the option of subscribing to an opt-in quarterly email newsletter that will keep them notified of changes or additions to a variety of programs, including life, health, automobile, home insurance, and credit cards. These email alerts will contain information to help IEEE members structure their benefits to meet their individual needs.
