Abstract:

The economics of the rising demand for the wireless transmission of information has made it increasingly attractive to place a large number of emitters and receivers on a single tower or vehicle. Mitigating interference between all possible combinations of these radios has stretched the limits of EMI control, and has made careful system modeling and planning more vital than ever. This presentation will outline mechanisms and models used to predict the close-range EMI between systems located on the same platform.

Thomas Jerse has over 25 years experience with Hewlett-Packard and Boeing in solving EMI problems both at the circuit and systems level, and earned a PhD in electromagnetic compatibility from the University of Kentucky. He presently holds dual positions as an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at The Citadel and an Associate Technical Fellow of The Boeing Company.

4.      IEEE Fellows For 2006

CALL FOR FELLOW NOMINATIONS

Nominations are being accepted for the 2006 class of IEEE Fellows. For the second year, nominations, references and endorsements may be submitted electronically. The deadline is 1 March 2005.

At its June 2003 meeting, the IEEE Board of Directors approved changes to the process for nominating and electing IEEE members to Fellow grade. The change established a new nomination category for individual contributions, with the goal of increasing   nominations for members in industry and encouraging nominations of application engineers or engineering practitioners who have made contributions of unusual distinction to the profession.

The board also established a Fellow Nomination Resource Center to help nominators locate the required number of references to support a nomination.

To nominate an IEEE senior member or to learn more about the Fellow program, visit:
