In
the beginning of 2007 the Baltimore Section launched the CEEE
initiative. It is
intended to be a series of continuing education courses whose goals are:
-
to update
IEEE members
on new developments in the EE field
-
to
familiarize member
engineers with basic new products, tools and techniques
-
to
facilitate
networking and foster collaboration between members of different
chapters
-
to help
members become
more competitive in an uncertain job market
This
section-level program is running in the format of seminars, 2-4
annually. The lecturers are experts from
different
fields of common interest. Topic selection is based on suggestions
coming from
members in the Baltimore region, and feedback received through
completing the program
evaluation forms. Potential topics of interest could include, but are
not
limited to:
-
Hardware
tools (components,
embedded solutions, DSPs, FPGAs, circuit simulation, portable devices,
board
design, etc)
-
Wireless
technologies
(theory, standards, available OEM products, trends, etc.)
-
Software
tools
(Programming languages, compilers, real-time operating systems,
debuggers etc)
-
Internet-based
methods
and devices
All
courses are eligible for CEU credits. The program is open to all IEEE members,
including members from neighboring sections and student members. The
seminars
take place on Saturdays morning at the Historic Electronics Museum (HEM):
