----- Diamond Story: Web Page Design Course on June 24
The Internet has undergone explosive growth in the last few years, and it is now a vital part of everyday life. Many companies and individuals have developed their own Web pages in order to reach out to the general public and provide valuable outreach capability at low cost.
The NCAC is pleased to offer a course in collaboration with the University of Maryland University College on the topic of Web Page Design. This is a beginner-to-intermediate level course, requiring only general familiarity with applications like Word and Power Point. It will describe the basic steps needed to develop a simple Web Page, and discuss how to incorporate desired characteristics, such as import of art and other features that are available from many sources. It is a hands-on course in the Computer Lab and all the necessary course materials will be provided. A more advanced course including audio and video features will be offered later in the year.
Even if you decide to contract out your web page after this course, you will be in a far better position to judge if you are getting the best value for your money. You will be able to tell what bells and whistles you really need (and are willing to pay for).
An experienced UMUC faculty member who has given many such courses and is a consultant in web design will teach the course.
A certificate of completion will be given on successful completion of the course.
The course will be given from 8:30 to 5:30 PM, with two short coffee breaks and a one-hour break for lunch. The cost of lunch is not included in the fee; many restaurants and fast food places are available on and near the campus.
Please register early, because space is limited. If you are not an IEEE member but wish to join IEEE, applications forms will be available at the site. A portion of the fee ($50) can be applied towards membership dues.
