The Erie Section of IEEE would like to invite you to attend a presentation titled “Challenges of the Design, Manufacturing and Validation of Large Gearboxes used in Wind Turbine Applications” at Gannon University on Tuesday October 20th, 11:00 am.

Dear IEEE Erie Section Member:

On October 23 and 24th IEEE will host a Teacher In-Service Training Program (TISP) at the National Energy Technology Laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA. If you are not familiar, TISP is a program whereby IEEE trains its volunteers to deliver in-service program training to K-12 teachers. IEEE has developed a number of lesson plans to introduce K-12 teachers and students to engineering principles. If you are interested, you can find more information via the following links:

Registration information is in the PDF file and registration is free to IEEE members. The IEEE Erie Section may be able to help defray travel expenses, based on the interest level. If you are interested in attending, please let me know by email by Friday October 9th.

This is a well-developed training program that IEEE has offered throughout the world. It is a great volunteer opportunity to introduce engineering to K-12 students and teachers. Please let me know if you have questions.

Ralph Ford
