    • Business Model for Technology, "bestChoices", by Lonnie Baxley

"bestChoices"  focuses on the following functional hats:

  • b - business

  • e - engineer

  • s - scientist

  • t - technologist

  • C - Customer (note Customer is only one in capitals)

  • h - human resources

  • o - outer core (common operational resource environment)

  • i - inner core

  • c - competition

  • e - executive

  • s - sources

A general overview of organizational structures, various functional areas of "bestChoices" and primary emphasis on the productive engine of Technology Product Development; A non-traditional approach to Quality is also examined.

The concepts apply well to software and hardware development. Anyone with an interest in getting a new view of how business and product development fit together in a global economy should benefit from the presentation.

The initial concepts of "bestChoices" originated in Lonnie Baxley's  mind in the mid-1980's while he was working with an Advanced Technologies Group in AT&T.  The model has continued to evolve over the years during his involvement with international, academic and professional groups.

During Lonnie's teaching tour at NCAT  he used the concepts with students to give them a sense career focus.  He has also shared the concepts with other professional and international groups.  Some new concepts not previously presented will be shared with the IEEE group with the objective they will be stressed by the groups experience.
