Engineering Programme offered at UWI Mona.
The University of the West Indies, (UWI) Mona began offering
a programme of study leading to a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)
degree in Electronics Engineering effective September 2009.
The programme is being offered through the Electronics Unit of the
Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences at Mona. Additional programmes
including Renewable Energy, Energy Management & Engineering and
Biomedical Engineering are expected to come on stream in 2010.
Two waste-to-energy plants are slated for early construction in Jamaica, which will see the country saving some US$60 million in the fuel importation bill, annually. A presentation on the American Television Systems Committee (ATSC) Standards was delivered by Mr Robert Graves, Chairman of the ATSC Forum, at the Jamaica Section's monlhly meeting at the Hilton Kingston Hotel, Jamaica, on July 16, 2008.
