Particular Information for Sections in the Regions 1-6

1. In rare cases, Sections may desire to hire employees.
    
2. The accounting and reporting of salary payments and withholdings for federal income tax, social security tax, medicare tax, and, where applicable, state and local income taxes are non-trivial tasks.
    
3. Sections that need to hire employees should explore the alternative of having the employee be on the IEEE payroll so that IEEE can handle all the tax issues. Contact the Region 3 Director for guidance and for presenting the request to the Institute.
