Chairman's Corner

Last month, on behalf of the Orlando Section, I attended the Section Congress '99 at Minneapolis, MN. More than 1000 section delegate attended the congress. I had the opportunity to meet with many Section Chairs from around the world. It was indeed very useful gathering of its kind. It is very important for our section to be active at the region and national levels.

As a primary delegate of the Orlando Section, I had the opportunity to actively participate in region 3 caucus. Our Region made tow primary recommendations: First, strengthening ties between IEEE membership and industry and allow section and chapters maintain the current level of support and independence they enjoy. As a secondary recommendation, the region stated that the current IEEE logo should remain.

I am very pleased with the success of the Wet'n Wild activity we had in October. Our thanks go to Dr. David Flinchbaugh for the hard work he put towards the success of the event. Also special thanks to Dr. Al Berg for leading the efforts of presenting the nominations for the Millennium Medals.
