Guest Worker Action Alert
Mike Emmons, a soon to be displaced American IT worker in Longwood (whose job is to be taken over by a Tata Consultancy USA Indian through a L-1 transfer) has already written a letter to Rep. Boyd, opposing H-1B and L-1 Visas displacing American jobs. Other letters will help. Florida section IEEE newsletter editors are encouraged to give this issue space in their newsletter.
Also, encourage members to respond to the IEEE-USA action alert to e-mail their representatives about the serious unemployment problem now being faced by EEs and computer scientists. Most of the work has been done for you at https://capwiz.com/ieeeusa/issues/alert/?alertid=435666&type=CO, where you can identify your legislators by your zip code, draft three letters, and e-mail them quickly.

Northern Florida Residents Please Support Representative Allen Boyd (D-FL)
Representative Allen Boyd (D-FL) is being pressured by mass immigration advocates to curtail his immigration reform activities. Congressman Boyd is an active member of the Immigration Reform Caucus and recently started a campaign in the House to get his fellow colleagues to sign onto the SAFER Act. The legislation, Securing America’s Future through Enforcement Reform Act, H.R. 5013, is designed to cut back on mass immigration and secure the nation's borders.

In the dear colleague letter Boyd circulated, he states, "The tragic events of September 11 and subsequent terrorism investigations have vividly demonstrated that loopholes and flaws in current immigration laws pose serious threats to our national security. Given the fact that all of the 9/11 hijackers had entered our country through means of legal immigration, we cannot longer ignore the link between our immigration system and Americans' vulnerability to terrorism. I encourage each of you to consider cosponsoring H.R. 5013, a move to correct what is presently a dysfunctional immigration system."

Representative Boyd is one the few representatives who has taken a stand against the mass immigration lobby as well as the many members of his party who advocate open borders. Representative Boyd is a fifth generation farmer who graduated from Florida State University and served his country in Vietnam. In Congress, he is a member of the Appropriations Committee, the conservative Blue Dog coalition, and the Immigration Reform Caucus.

Action Needed:
Please call Representative Boyd's district office and tell them that you support the Congressman's immigration activities. Tell his office that you commend Representative Boyd's continuing courage and leadership on the important matter of regaining control of both legal and illegal immigration into the United States.
