Job Description Support the NASA ELV office on the Analex team in a wide range of assignments, including the assessments of analytical items throughout the life cycle for each NASA ELV mission and build cycle for each NASA vehicle and associated payload/spacecraft. Perform reviews of Launch Services Program provided documents and technical assessments of relevant issues that arise during the integration process. Evaluation of these issues will require documentation of the issue as well as efforts such as independent analysis and recommendations on how to resolve the issue and may involve heavy communication with both NASA and Launch Vehicle Contractor (LVC) engineers.
Candidate will contribute to and present at engineering review boards on related concerns that affect future missions along with attending and contributing to LVC design reviews, developing Spacecraft specifications, reviewing test plans, witnessing tests, participating in mission integration meetings and NASA readiness reviews. Candidate will also be involved with manning a telemetry console during launch to monitor and assess pre-launch, post-launch and flight performance. Candidate will be required to clearly and concisely document findings and concerns and present to fellow engineers and NASA engineering management.
 
Candidate needs a minimum of five years experience in an engineering environment performing EMC/RF analyses on systems and/or components, preferably for launch vehicles/spacecrafts in the ELV community. Specific technical expertise required by the candidate shall include the ability to provide launch systems and site EMC/RF analysis for MIL-STD-461/464 and MIL-STD-1540/1541. The analysis requirements cover emission and susceptibility for both the launch vehicle and or spacecraft; bonding, grounding, deadfacing, lightning protection and wire routing requirements, test summaries and analyses; induced transients; ESD; geomagnetic plasma charging; EED and RF hazards; communications link margins; payload EMC/RF accommodations; launch vehicle and spacecraft system level EMC test plans/results and other EMC/RF associated issues. Candidate must be dependable, self-motivated, have good communication and interpersonal skills, good computer skills and be familiar with standard Microsoft applications and Windows OS. Candidate must be willing to travel. US citizenship required.
 
Candidate must contain a Bachelors degree or higher in an engineering related field or have equivalent experience and knowledge.
