Paradigm"
Since the
end of the last century, humankind has
endeavored to fulfill the dream of wireless
multimedia telecommunications, enabling people
to communicate with anyone, anywhere, at any
time. This concept leads to the impression of
"tele-presence" while communicating.This
light-hearted overview considers some of the
problems encountered in wireless
communications.

The lecturer is from the University of
Southampton, U. K. and is Chair of
Telecommunications since 1986. During his
27-year career, he has held academic and
research positions in Hungary, Germany, and the
U. K. He has coauthored 10 books and is an IEEE
Distinguished Lecturer.

MEMBERSHIP
The section Executive
Committee is organizing an endeavor to raise Members to
Senior Member grade. One of the requirements is to find
three references.
The section
anticipates meeting this need by establishing a list of
those willing to be a reference. E-mails will shortly be

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) -Palm
Beach invites members of IEEE to attend a dinner and
speaker program on the evening of Wednesday, Oct 1. It is
being held at the Waterford and the speaker is Mr. Burt
Dicht, on "From Goddard to Apollo".

SOUTHEASTCON
04 CALL FOR PAPERS
SoutheastCon 04 is annual Region 3 Technical,
Professional and Student conference. It will be held in
Greensboro, NC from March 26-28. Authors are invited to
submit papers on any aspect of electrical and computer
engineering. Due date is Dec 19, 03.

COMMUNITY
SERVICE PROJECT-LIGHTENING
PROTECTION
The section has been
asked to determine if it can help with a community
service project. Boynton Beach Community High School is
in need of technical advice for lightening protection for
the campus. The section needs help in organizing an
effort to provide technical help. Contact any officer or
e-mail the section address. Please do not contact the
school or the school
district.

SECTION
MEETINGS
To clarify meeting attendance, section meetings are open
to members, guests and friends of the section. There is
no fee for attending. Fees are only charged for technical
seminars at which CEU's and PDH's are awarded.
Conferences and society seminars also do charge fees.
Check with the individual event. Members are encouraged
to attend the section meetings and other events to meet
other members and network. In the coming months,
employment and other issues will be addressed.
Additionally, members can attend the ExCom meeting.
Meetings will be now held regularly every every two
months on the second Tuesday.
