Why:

The Scripps
Research Institute (TSRI) announced in October,
2003 plans to establish a major science center in
Palm Beach County focusing on biomedical research,
technology development and drug design.
TSRI is one of the world's largest, private,
non-profit biomedical research organizations.

This all day event is part of the celebration of
National Engineers Week 2004 (eWeek) held
from February
22 to 28.

Atlantic Palm Beach and Indian River Communities

NOTICE 2-LIFE MEMBERS
CHAPTER-EXCOM

LIFE
MEMBERS CHAPTER
Life members residing in the section recently met at a
section sponsored luncheon to discuss and vote on forming a
chapter. The vote was 100% for establishing a chapter and a
petition was signed for submission to IEEE to approve Palm
Beach as the next chapter.
After a brainstorming session, topics were chosen for the
members to become active, including member war stories,
technology history, computer classes for disabled vets,
mentor students, teacher-training workshops, encourage women
and minorities in engineering. It was also discussed to
allow spouses equal vote in LM activities.
Thirty members and nineteen guests attended.
Congratulations to the new chapter officers:

the section to give a presentation about IEEE Palm
Beach and its activities.
