About Us The Institute of Electrical
and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) (Eye-triple-E) is a
non-profit technical professional association of more than
360,000 members in 175 countries. IEEE Palm Beach section is
the local entity. There are approximately 1000 members in
Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Okeechobee, Glades, Hendry
and Highlands counties. The section holds activities
for its members; this includes monthly meetings featuring
tours, lectures and presentations at which members can learn
about new areas of technical interest and provide an
opportunity to network. Its goal is to provide a balance
between industry, education and government sectors and
provide a forum for the flow of ideas and technological
information. The section contains four
societies which promote technology within of its own areas
of interest. These are Communications, Computer, Power
Engineering and Signal Processing societies. There is also a
Life Members chapter and a Student Branch chapter at Florida
Atlantic University, Boca Raton. The membership is composed of male and
female engineers with a diverse background of employment experience in
the private and public sectors.
