Interaction Between Wind Farms and Weather Radar

Geoffrey Grochocinski has been an intern meteorologist at the Grand Forks, ND National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office since November 2007. Geoff developed a longtime fascination for the weather after an F5 tornado struck his nearby Chicago suburb of Plainfield in 1990, leading him to desire being involved with storm warnings at the NWS. He received his B.S. degree in atmospheric physics at Iowa State University in 2006. Geoff worked in the private sector before joining the federal government, first forecasting for energy and agricultural interests at Chesapeake Energy Corporation, followed by forecasting for utility companies at DTN/Meteorlogix.

About Us

Red River Valley Section of IEEE serves member Electrical and Computer Engineers from Western Minnesota, Eastern North Dakota, and Northeastern South Dakota Section Map and Bylaws who are members of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

The IEEE Red River Valley Section supports the local student chapter organizations by providing opportunities to attend full IEEE Section meetings at a reduced cost and by providing financial support for student trips. The Red River Valley Section is devoted to supporting the training of the next generation of engineers.

The Missouri Slope Section will be having their November banquet in Bismarck on Tues, November 3, 2009 at: Minervas starting at 6:00 pm. Hoa Nguyen will be presenting on his experiences with his journey to America...A look back 34 years later.
