The Ludington Pumped Storage Project (LPSP) is owned jointly by Consumers Energy and Detroit Edison. It consists of an energy production facility and a reservoir on Lake Michigan that holds 27 billion gallons of water. When the demand for electricity is low, water is pumped into the reservoir from the lake. When the demand for electricity is high, water is released from the reservoir, flows through penstocks, and turns 6 reversible, 433,000 horsepower turbines to generate electricity. The total output is 1,872 megawatts. |

You are invited to the very first meeting of the new IEEE West Michigan Consultants' Network. This is an official Affinity Group of the West Michigan Section of the IEEE. The primary purpose of this group is to offer a networking tool for independent consultants and contract engineers, and to offer an opportunity for all of us to share and learn from each others experiences. Anyone who is already a consultant or considering becoming one is welcome, member of the IEEE or not. |
Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, 7:30p.m.-9:00p.m. EPSAN Group, Inc., 4778 Broadmoor S.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49518-0306 (see map at www.jepsan.com) David K. Dorner (david@DornerWorks.com) is leading this effort. This first meeting will give everyone a chance to get to know each other, discuss how the group will operate, elect officers, and answer any questions. David has attended a Chicago Consultants' Network meeting earlier this year and has some good ideas from this established and successful group. He will be hosting web page space for the group at www.DornerWorks.com, and Phil Schneider has graciously offered the use of his JEPSAN office for the meeting facility. |
