Dear Colleagues, Welcome to the IEEE Engineering Management Society Chapter for Central Texas. Our local chapter of EMS became active in 2002. It was formed to serve the membership through involvement with IEEE and opportunities for professional development and networking. We invite members from industry and academia. Our goal is to help engineering managers to become more effective, and to help engineers determine whether or not they are suited to a career in engineering management. We want to help organizations achieve their goals through effective engineering management. Our plans include monthly opportunities for focused, practical and accessible professional development and annual conferences. The Central Texas Section of IEEE has enthusiastically supported this Engineering Management Society chapter and has provided excellent support as the organization has carried out a variety of activities. The EMS Chapter website is at http://www.ewh.ieee.org/r5/central_texas/ems/. This site is our vehicle to disseminate information on our plans and activities, as well as links to valuable resources. The website also provides information about future meetings and how to join our IEEE and EMS. There are many opportunities for members to assume leadership roles in the chapter, including serving as liaison in San Antonio and in other communities in Central Texas. I am honored to serve as Chair of this chapter and invite you to become actively involved in future initiatives. Leslie Martinich |
