Rocky Mountain Chapter EMC Society

Our last meeting was....

Embedded Capacitance - The Next Step in PWB Design

Presenters: Richard Charbonneau (StorageTek) and Charles Grasso(StorageTek)

Date : October 14th 1999.

What we saw:

Part 1 of the presentation started off somewhat uniquely with Charles Grasso moderating an interactive discussion with the audience. The interactive discussion centered on some Decoupling Engineering Dogma. The presentation then moved to a discussion of the Physics of Power Bus Noise and an analysis of decoupling capacitor performance.

Part 2, presented by Rick Charbonneau, reviewed the details of the project including; project members and mission statement, goals and objectives, the discovery process, test vehicle design, material considerations, electrical and qualification testing, modeling, deliverables, and timeline for the project.

Part 3, also presented by Charles Grasso, reviewed some swept frequency response data taken on some of the pwb materials.

IEEE EMC Society Membership

The Rocky Mountain Chapter is open to members and affiliates of the IEEE EMC Society. If you are not a member of the EMC Society, we encourage you to join. The free probe at the February meeting is just one of many benefits for Society members this year. We will have applications available at the meeting, or you can apply on-line at http://www.ieee.org.
