Roundtable Discussion Agenda 30 minutes: 2002/95/EC Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive Overview including what materials are restricted, the current dates for when it goes into effect and when the lead solder exemption ends, etc. They will also describe the common types of changes and design impacts caused by the ROHS directive. Also included will be RoHS legislation initiatives in progress for California, China and others. Panel: Josh Engle (IBM and Jim Goeppinger (Sun). 30 minutes: RoHS Impacts on EMC. We have found that many of our component suppliers have chosen to "End-Of-Life" their older components rather than upgrading them to RoHS. Newer components may force board changes and other component changes in order to use the RoHS compliant parts that are available. Because of the wide ranging design impacts of RoHS, much EMC testing will be involved. Panel:
Larry Ernst (IBM), Monrad Monson (Sun) and Todd Seeley (Intertek). 30 minutes: Questions and Answers ... Round table discussions including experiences of those in attendance. Panel:
