IEEE New Orleans Section Chair

The IEEE New Orleans Section Chair is responsible for ensuring that the section provides a technical program of interest to the members. The chair oversees the activities of the section through the executivie committee coordination to ensure that the purpose of the section as outlined in the MGA manual is maintained.

The IEEE MGA manual gives the following as the section purpose:

The Section shall have for its purpose the advancement of the theory and practice of IEEE
designated fields and the maintenance of high professional standards among its members,
with special attention to such aims within the territory of the Section, all in consonance with the
IEEE Constitution, IEEE Bylaws, IEEE Policy Manual MGA Operations Manual and Region
Bylaws.

2009 New Orleans IEEE Section Chair

Mr. Stephen Bourg is the 2009 IEEE section Chair. Mr. Bourg received a BSEE from UNO and graduated from the Engineering Management Program Graduate program at UNO. While at UNO, he chaired the IEEE Student Branch. He received the IEEE Region 5 Outstanding Small Company award in 2001. He served as a director in the New Orleans IEEE section in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. He served as the secretary of the New Orleans IEEE section in 2007. He served as the chair of the New Orleans IEEE section in 2008. He has worked for Crescent Consultants since 1986.

2009 New Orleans IEEE Section Chair Goals

As the chair of the New Orleans IEEE Section for 2009, I would like to restimulate the technical activities in the section, grow the membership, provide more activities to the members, improve the standardization of a timely newsletter, provide a new website to the section, and improve the professional program offered to the IEEE members in the New Orleans section.
