Scholarship Information


 Description: 

The Pikes Peak Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) will award five non-renewable scholarships yearly for university tuition and fees to qualified high school students who reside within the geographical boundaries of the Section.

 Fields of specialization: 

The designated fields of interest in the IEEE, including Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering and Computer Sciences.  IEEE designated fields are defined as the areas encompassed by the Societies of the IEEE as listed at the IEEE Societies site.

 Value of scholarship: 

$500.00, non-renewable

 Eligibility: 

The students must be graduating high school seniors planning to begin college studies in the summer or fall of 2006 at a four or five year university program.  The planned curriculum of study must be in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, electronic engineering technology or computer science.

 Basis of award: 

The Awards Committee of the Pikes Peak Section will base its selection on the student's academic qualifications, work experience, extra curricular activities and interests, and the stated field of specialization. A personal interview is optional at the committee's discretion. The decision of the committee is final.

Application procedure: 

By March 31, 2006 submit the following:

  1. A scholarship application noting the student's proposed academic major and the university of choice.
  2. An unofficial copy of the student's high school transcript.
  3. Three letters of recommendation, including one from a high school teacher who is familiar with the student's qualifications.
  4. A brief synopsis (500 words or less) of the student's educational and career goals.
