Upcoming IEEE SCV EDS Evening Meeting:
Wednesday, July 10, 2007 - IEEE SCV EDS Meeting:
"Nanotechnology in CMOS"
Speaker: Dr. Meyya Meyyappan, Chief Scientist - NASA Ames Research Center
Subject: "Nanotechnology in CMOS"
Location: National Semiconductor Building E Auditorium,
2900 Semiconductor Drive, Santa Clara, CA 95051.
See the NSC Campus driving directions
and the NSC Building E location map
Time: 6:00 PM - Pizza , 6:15 PM - Lecture
Speaker Contact:
Jayasimha Prasad
Abstract:
While novel device structures using nanomaterials such as
carbon nanotubes and organic molecules may be far away,
there are opportunities to use nanomaterials in solving
critical issues faced by silicon CMOS downscaling.
Two examples, both using carbon nanotubes, in chip cooling
and developing interconnects will be discussed. In addition,
the successful use of carbon nanotube probes in Atomic
Force Microscope (AFM) metrology will be described.
Finally, prospects for using carbon nanotubes and nanowires
of silicon and germanium in fabricating vertical and planar
transistors as well as phase-change nanowires for PRAM
applications will be discussed.
The author acknowledges Bin Yu, Jeff Sun, Quoc Ngo, Jun
Li, and Cary Yang for their contributions to the material
presented in this talk.

2007 ITRS Public Conference Program Abstract:
The International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS)
is considered the gold standard of industry roadmaps.
In 2007, the ITRS celebrates its tenth year as the first
International Roadmap for any industry. As technologies and
structures push the limits of Moore’s law and productivity,
the ITRS 15-year assessment of the semiconductor industry
technology requirements and potential solutions indicates
new approaches to maintain scaling and introducing
functionality on and off-chip.
Public feedback is welcomed as the ITRS working groups present
their draft material for the latest revision of the new 2007 ITRS.
Opportunities for networking, electronic posters, and Q&A will be
part of the public interaction.
ITRS representatives from the ITRS sponsoring regions - Europe,
Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and the U.S. - will be available to the
audience throughout the conference. A networking social follows
the event for all attendees.
The following teams will present their latest information as
a preview of their 2007 ITRS work:
2007 ITRS Public Conference Topics:
- Overall roadmap technology characteristics
- Assembly and packaging
- Test and test equipment
- Yield enhancement
- Factory integration
- System drivers and design
