EMI/EMC Engineer

As an EMI/EMC Engineer, your responsibilities will include evaluation of designs and testing of PCBs compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Candidates must be fluent in current global EMC standards and test specifications. Awareness of emerging regulatory requirements is a must. The successful candidate will posses strong test and debug skills.

Candidates should be familiar with the following:

  • GR-1089 (NEBS) & all RBOC Supplemental Requirements
  • EN 300 386
  • Basic EU Standards: EN61000-4-X
  • EN50081-1, 82-1, 81-2, 82-2
  • FCC Parts 15, 18, 22, and 24
  • CISPR 11,12,13,14,15,20,22,24
  • VCCI, BSMI and Industry Canada regulations

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support for EMC compliance and certification of Ethernet products. Work all facets of the regulatory approvals process, including design reviews, test plan preparation, testing and EMC troubleshooting/mitigation
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple projects, set priorities and work independently under aggressive timeline, including gathering pretest information, answering any questions the design team may have with regard to compliance.
  • In depth hands-on experience performing emissions and immunity testing to the applicable specifications.
  • Expert ability to independently perform mitigation & debug efforts for both a decrease of emissions as well as hardening of system immunity.
  • Review tests reports, communicated both orally and in writing.
  • Keep abreast of the latest EMC design theory, including detailed theoretical knowledge in the technical areas of shielding, filtering, grounding, bonding, cabling, gasketing, waveguides, and printed circuit board layout methods.
  • Keep abreast of current EMC standards, test procedures, instrumentation, technology by internal training sessions, external seminars, and reading technical articles
  • Maintain knowledge of proper operational procedures of all test equipment including spectrum analyzers, EMC receivers, preamplifiers, quasi-peak adapters, signal/impulse generators, antennas, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Communicate in a courteous and effective manner in all circumstances including providing information with regard to standards, test procedures, technical recommendations for compliance and certification requirements.

Senior Space Environment Engineer

Space Systems/Loral has an opening for a senior Space Environment engineer. The duty includes but not limited to design, analysis and test of particle radiation, EMI/EMC and spacecraft charging. Strong background and knowledge in EMI/EMC and spacecraft charging is desired.
