Title

Company: Fusion-io

Senior Reliability Engineer This is a senior reliability engineering position in product development with specific focus on storage device characterization and integration in Fusion-io products.  The Reliability Engineer will be responsible for determining and communicating the reliability attributes of all solid-state storage devices, including attributes related to endurance, data retention and susceptibility to various disturb and other failure mechanisms.  These responsibilities include development of test infrastructure (hardware and software) to accomplish this testing.

Design of additional testing is expected, such as related to Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) and Highly Accelerated Stress Testing (HAST).  The reliability engineer will be required to provide on-going data and test analysis support.

It is expected that the reliability engineer will seek to enhance or lever reliability-related testing used as part of product delivery as well.  These include burn-in and On-Going Reliability Testing (ORT).

It is expected that the engineer use valid statistical methods in test design and data analysis.  It is also expected that the engineer contribute to intellectual property development and publication of knowledge articles that advance Fusion-io’s standing with respect to delivering best-in-class reliability in its products and services.

This is very much a hands-on position the ability to roll up the sleeves, jump into product software, firmware and test utilities, and in general collaborate with the engineering community is highly valued and is a key performance objective.

This position is expected to be hosted in Salt Lake City.

Company Description
Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, Fusion-io is the leading provider of application-centric, enterprise storage architecture that unlocks a world of possibilities for performance-starved applications.

The increasing demand for a next-generation, solid-state storage technology is driven by advancements in computer processors which, following Moore's Law, have grown exponentially in performance. Mechanical disks, on the other hand, follow Newtonian Dynamics and experience lackluster performance improvements, introducing a performance gap.

Ushering in a new era of application-centric, solid-state storage solutions for the enterprise, Fusion-io is revolutionizing the way database, application and system administrators architect their data centers. The company is closing the gap between processing power and storage needs by delivering breakthrough performance at a fraction of the cost of traditional disk-based storage systems. Now, the performance of an entire disk array can be placed inside a server.

Fusion-io's executive team has a long history of building companies that deliver game-changing and innovative technologies to the marketplace. Fusion-io was founded in 2006 by a team of experts with successful track records in the fields of transaction processing, high-performance networking, storage and super clusters, computing and image processing.

Coming out of stealth mode in late 2007, Fusion-io was backed with an initial round of funding led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Dell Ventures and Sumitomo Ventures. In 2009, Lightspeed Venture joined these forward-thinking organizations to lead Fusion-io’s Series B funding round.
