Responsible for reliability calculations, tests, field analysis of SSN products. Partner with Development Engineering, Materials, Manufacturing Engineering, strategic development partners, Suppliers, and CMs to achieve key product quality, cost, and reliability goals. Work with SSN Development Engineers on new products reliability tests and assessments. Partner with Supply Chain to define the components tests to be performed at SSN or at the suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform reliability predictions of SSN products, report data and highlight reliability results to cross-functional team (Ops, finance, service) using specific applications such as RELEX.
  • Verify suppliers’ reliability calculations and tests at component level in partnership with Component and Supply Chain engineers. Interact with suppliers on the results in a cooperative team effort.

  • Define a set of production reliability tests and methodologies in order to ensure field reliable parts such as ORT, ESS, FMEA, DFX, etc. Work with Supply Chain organization in order to ensure consensus and agreement on production, quality/reliability goals
  • Apply metrics for monitoring the field reliability performance and dynamically act on the findings with corrective actions, using best-in-class methodologies: 8D, fish bone, 6 sigma, DMAIC, FMEA, SPC, etc.
  • Identify field trends and set up alerts using specific applications and sound analysis, such as Weibull++, JMP, etc. Report on findings at Quality meetings and reach consensus on the actions to be applied.
    Analyze failures from field, production and qualification tests providing improvement suggestions based on the failure mechanisms and root causes, to Develop Engineering, Contract Manufacturers and Field Service Engineers.
  • Proactively involved in any aspect of the continuous improvement at SSN and inspire best practices by writing guidelines, providing feedback, solutions, applying innovative metrics and measurements, planning DOEs, bench marking state of the art industry, technologies, companies, etc.

The manager develops, monitors and provides guidance to ensure quality, consistency and adequacy of reliability and maintainability analysis and support activities across all SS/L satellite programs and product directorates. The manager ensures that the section operate concurrently with the product directorates and Systems Engineering.The goal is to achieve mission reliability and enhance spacecraft designs by the timely identification and elimination or mitigation of design or process-orientated single-point failures.The manager organizes and plan the work required and resources, to meet the budget and schedule cost. The manager meets the statement functions, annual objectives and management directed tasks with cost and schedule goal.s He/she develops plans to show assignment of tasks and schedule.

Job Qualifications:
•Minimum of ten years of reliability or 20 years overall engineering activities. Ten years aerospace or similar organization experience in an Engineering and/or manufacturing organization.

•BS degree or equivalent to in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or a closely related field. MS degree or Ph. D. preferred with strong skills in electrical engineering analysis such as worst case analysis, circuit stress analysis, failure modes and effects analysis.
