Summary This position is responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive and world-class reliability program which includes but is not limited to: Establishing performance guidelines for assessing product reliability to industry, company and customer standards; establishing reliability environmental test standards for the release of new products, and/or; ensuring continuous product reliability by implementing an effective ongoing reliability monitoring program; providing reliability assessment feedback to the company; and improving new product/technology/supplier introduction processes by providing reliability risk assessment during the early design stages; complete the environmental testing as defined in the reliability test plans by our in-house and external reliability labs This individual will be able to facilitate the reliability engineering program by: •Working with Engineering groups to develop reliability test plans for new products being developed. Complete these reliability test plans according to business needs and schedules. •Working with the Engineering groups during the new product design phase to guide them on reliability concerns as well as identify reliability test methods to ensure the reliability of new products being developed. •Working with the Operations group to determine new process and/or system qualifications, develop appropriate reliability test plans and complete these plans according to business needs and schedules. •Establishing and maintaining ongoing reliability monitoring (ORT) programs and optimizing the use of the internal reliability lab and external reliability testing labs. •Managing the development of new analytical tools and acceleration techniques to assure the early identification of potential problems with new products, packaging, and processes. •Developing, evaluating and maintaining reliability systems and standards pertaining to the materials and techniques used in design and production. • Design of reliability tests and automation systems for data logging, analysis and reporting. Description: Opening to serve as a Reliability Engineer for Business Client products in Austin, TX. Will serve as reliability engineer for computer products from concept through prototype and into production. Participate in product development; perform Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), derating, physics-of-failure analysis, virtual qualification, and reliability prediction. Prepare schedules, statements of work, and functional plans. Analyze field failure data and initiate failure analysis to understand factors limiting the reliability of computer systems. Qualify computer products through validation testing. Develop new test methodologies and support global enablement of test capability. Define certification criteria & implement supplier reliability lab certification. Work with a multinational team of reliability engineers, development engineers, & suppliers to transition product reliability qualification to suppliers' site. Provide support to suppliers in reliability analysis and validation techniques. Review supplier design analysis and reports for compliance to product qualification requirements. Provide strategy & direction for qualification efforts on peripheral products (used in computer systems). Conduct design for reliability (DFR) analysis and accelerated life testing for computer products, and resolve reliability issues with lead-free electronics. Some International travel may be required. Successful candidate will be well versed and experienced in all phases of reliability of commercial electronic products, from system level through component level, from Concept through Sustaining phases of programs. Will be very proficient and experienced in use of contemporary data analysis statistical tools such as Weibull++, Minitab, etc., as well as possess a strong working knowledge of traditional statistical methods. Candidate will need to have had experience in determining appropriate system/subsystem/component life qualification programs for items in which no industry standard exists. Candidate will have had notable experience in defining and implementing ORT programs for system/subsystem/component level items at 3rd party suppliers or internally. Strong background in root cause analysis down to component level required. Will need to have robust abilities to prepare schedules, statements of work, and functional plans., as well as work with both internal and external teams on an international basis. Additionally, demonstrated history of providing support to suppliers in reliability analysis and validation techniques, as well as reviewing supplier design analysis and reports for compliance to product qualification specs. Qualifications: Candidate will need to have demonstrated strong history of acting as a
change agent to challenge and upgrade existing processes and procedures as
applicable in previous work assignments. Candidate will need to possess
strong network of competent 3rd party resources in the industry to leverage
as project size and scope demand. Candidate will be familiar with, and have
demonstrated experience, in assessing and meeting MIL810 and MIL217
requirements, as well as equivalent Telcordia standards. The minimum
educational level for this position is a Masters of Electrical or Mechanical
Engineering with a minimum of 5 yrs. directly applicable experience. Also
required is familiarity with Design for 6 Sigma techniques. ASQ Black Belt,
