Location: Boardroom of Cogswell Polytechnical College, 1175 Bordeaux Drive, Sunnyvale, CA (directions)

About the talk: Many problems are of our own making. Self-limiting beliefs prevent many people from even attempting to reach their goals, let alone act on them. Discover 'optimism as a strategy'! This light-hearted talk is based on well-documented concepts of behavioral modification called 'acting as if'. If you are ready to move beyond anger, blame and grief, this workshop is for you. Open to the possibility of accepting, even embracing, changes not of our own choosing as opportunities that would not other wise have been available. Re-interpret the story of your career transition in ways that will energize you, inspire others and attract your next opportunity.

You'll leave this talk with practical tools you can start using TODAY to:
  • re-interpret circumstances in ways that will energize you & inspire others.
  • stop sabotaging yourself with negativity.
  • communicate more effectively.
  • get unstuck.
  • feel better!
About the speaker:
Kimberly Wiefling
Kimberly Wiefling is the founder and principal of Wiefling Consulting. She is a proven business leadership and program management consultant with over 15 years of experience enabling leaders, companies and teams to get results. She has successfully helped small businesses grow, and enabled large businesses to develop successful products with greater predictability and fewer nasty surprises. Her approach enables teams to get great results even amid challenging and unpredictable circumstances. Kimberly states her philosophy like this: "The ability to attract and retain talented people is one of the greatest competitive advantages any company can possess. After you have the right people on the bus the key to success is to unleash the power of the group genius in support of the business goals. How is this accomplished? By common sense, of course, which is unfortunately NOT common knowledge or common practice. My purpose is to transform the leading workplaces of this Valley into thriving, abundant and life-affirming communities that enable companies and their people to achieve their greatest potential, make it possible for people to work in their right livelihoods and sustain themselves abundantly, and contribute fully to the success of their company as well as the greater good of the community in which we all live. By so doing I believe that we will create a competitive advantage that cannot be duplicated because no one will believe how easy it is to dramatically improve business results!"

Kimberly has 10 years of experience at Hp working in the biotech-centric analytical products division and the timing and network synchronization division. She has been an instructor with UC Santa Cruz Extension since 2003, during which she was ranked one of their top 3 instructors and received an average instructor effectiveness rating of 4.9 out of 5. An education in physics, and a broad range of experience with engineering teams, uniquely qualify her to successfully engage technical professionals. A lively and engaging speaker, she presents on a wide range of inspiring topics to corporations, government agencies, universities, and civic organizations. She designs and facilitates highly interactive workshops on topics including project management, breakthrough thinking, leadership, and "getting unstuck." She is committed to creating life affirming work environments that leverage known best practices to enable significantly increased business success beyond what is commonly thought possible.
