Ernie Schaffer (Bio):  As Electromagnetic Engineering Manager at Whittaker Corporation Ernie Schaeffer was responsible for the design of motors that operate aircraft valve actuators and gyroscopes. During his seven year stint with Whittaker Ernie had the opportunity to design a sophisticated motor for a classified space program. His entrepreneurial spirit gave birth to a new line for the company as more electromagnetic spacef light product opportunities were offered. Then in late 1975 Whittaker management asked Ernie to stop taking orders for these new products and to founded his company in his garage. 32 years later he sold his company and retired. In those 32 years his company’s products were flown to every planet that NASA explored. His business expanded to support the early space programs of Japan, China, France, Italy, and Spain. Along the way Ernie managed to earn an MBA at Pepperdine University. His many honors include the Engineers Council of San Fernando Valley recognition as Distinguished Engineer and later as Engineer of the Year. Ernie was awarded the Public Service Medal for his "Innovative design of electric motors and actuators" in support of the NASA space Program. And in 1990 Forbes Magazine included a feature article dealing with his exploits in the space program. More recently he helped found the Ernie Schaeffer Center for Entrepreneurism and Innovation at CSUN.
