 2010 Candidates' Bio's

Executive Committee

Utah Section Chair

Thank you for letting me take a moment to introduce myself, I am Dan Christenson, candidate for IEEE Utah Section Chairman.

I have been employed by the United States Air Force for the last 17 years in increasing levels of responsibility.  Currently I am the Director of Engineering for the

748th Supply Chain Management Group, Hill Air Force Base, Utah.  The group is assigned to the 448th Supply Chain Management Wing, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma and through its four Squadrons serves as the focal point for Air Force Supply Chain Planning and Execution supporting worldwide sustainment of 19 Space & Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence systems, most of the Air Force weapon system’s landing gear, wheels, brakes and secondary power systems and weapon system specific structural and avionics systems for the F-16, A-10, T-38 and other mature and proven aircraft systems.

I began my Air Force career as an electronic design engineer in the hardware development section at Ogden Air Logistics Center, Utah, in 1992.  In 1995 I was promoted to section chief of the Automatic Test Equipment and Weapons Systems Interface Engineering Section at Hill.  In that role, in addition to my role as supervisor, I continued to act as a systems design engineer for major projects and worked BRAC workload relocation issues for Sacramento and San Antonio Air Logistics centers.  I served in that role for five years.  In 1999 I was transferred to the Administrative Branch of the Software Division as Branch Chief.  In that role I served as the division’s senior administrative officer.  In 2001 I was promoted to Branch Chief for the Weapon Systems Software Engineering Branch, Maintenance Directorate, Ogden Air Logistics Center, Ogden, UT (OO-ALC/MASM), specializing in Automatic Test Equipment development and maintenance.  In that role I supervised >160 engineers and technical staff.  In 2004, I was promoted to Chief of the Avionics / Electronics Systems Division at Hill Air Force Base responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of Hill’s technical policies and processes for Electronics and Avionics products.  Prior to my current position, I served as Division Chief for the Force Development Division, Engineering Directorate, Ogden Air Logistics Center, Hill Air Force Base, Utah responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of force development policies and processes to insure development of the scientific and engineering expertise in the ALC’s more than 900 science and engineering professionals.

I have been heavily involved in IEEE leadership for over 10 years in IEEE I&M and IEEE AESS’s flagship conference AUTOTESTCON.  First as staff for AUTOTESTCON 1998 in Salt Lake City.  Then as a member of the Board of Directors of AUTOTESTCON and ultimately serving as General Chair for the IEEE AUTOTESTCON in 2008.  This is one of IEEE’s larger conferences, with almost 2000 attendees.  This effort, cosponsored by IEEE Utah Section and heavily supported by Hill AFB, was a great success.  In 2009 I became the IEEE Utah Section Treasurer.

I request your support as IEEE Utah Section Chairman.
