The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) was founded in 1884 with Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison among its charter members. Today, the IEEE serves over 350,000 members who are geographically organized into 10 Regions, over 300 Sections, and more than 1,100 Student Branches worldwide. A Student Branch further falls
under the auspices of the local Section. Nearly 60,000 Student members worldwide make up 13% of the membership of the IEEE and are essential to the continued growth and vitality of the IEEE. Over 50% of the current IEEE members joined as students. Welcome to the Nigeria Section of the IEEE. We, the officers, look forward to a very successful year, and are pleased to have you as a member of our team. Both the professional and student branches are committed to making a difference in the community and in the lives of aspiring professionals. To that end, we have worked to plan activities that you will find enjoyable, enhancing, and rewarding.
We are convinced that you will find the benefits received from IEEE well worth the effort it will require to make our section one of the premier sections in our region. Yet, as the old adage says, " You get out what you put in. " Thus, we encourage you to support the Nigeria section with your input and participation in as many activities as possible.

IEEE Region 8 Student Branch and Gold Congress
The biannual IEEE Region 8 Student Branch and GOLD (Graduates Of the Last Decade) Congress is the biggest event in the world for young engineering professionals and students all aged less than 28 years. At this congress, around 300 existing IEEE student branch members and young professionals from the Middle East, Europe and Africa gather in one place to learn new useful skills, meet, socialise and share professional experience with each other. ..more
