Training to bridge Academia-Industry
Technical dinner presentation entitled “Training to help bridge the gap between Academia and Industry – Saudi Aramco’s experience” by Jamal Al-Dabal, Director of Career Development in Saudi Aramco, on March 22, 2008, at 7 p.m. at the Dhahran International Hotel. This event is sponsored by Al Abdulkarim Holding Co.

About the Presentation: The presenter will show some data of Saudi Arabia's university student outcome which need to be strengthened to meet the industry expectation. He will highlight what Saudi Aramco is doing for the young graduates in terms of training to ensure this gap is addressed. He will also cover some cooperation that the industry is doing with some of the universities locally & globally.

About the Presenter: Jamal Al-Dabal is currently the director of Career Development Department, a senior consultant in Saudi Aramco Educational Partnerships, an MBA lecturer at the University of Hull, UK and coordinator of the Kingdom's petroleum strategy. Earlier he served as Continuing Excellence Advisor, Corporate Planning Senior Consultant and Corporate Business Plan Coordinator. Before joining Corporate Planning, Jamal led Saudi Aramco's Information Protection model besides driving the company's innovation and corporate values teams. Jamal has published several papers and spoken in different forums about IT, Energy, Strategy, Leadership and Education. His MBA dissertation is sold online thru amazon.com. As a member of national organizations including the E-Commerce, E-Government committees, ITDigest, the IT Club, the National IT Creativity Contest & the National Computer Creativity Contest, he has been a long-time motivator of youth in the Kingdom's gifted students programs, and a life-time mentor for very special students, including the Saudi member of Microsoft Board of the Future. He planned a number of initiatives for the King Abdulaziz Foundation for the Gifted, including the Saudi Aramco Gifted Summer Program (both boys/girls), the Int'l Science & Engineering Fair & as senior advisor of the Saudi Mathematical Olympiad. Jamal is also quite active throughout the community with a number of volunteer organizations.
