IEEE Region 1 Alex Gruenwald Section PACE Award for
Excellence of PACE Programs

An Invitation to Nominate

PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Region 1 Alex Gruenwald Section PACE Award for Excellence of PACE Programs is to reward the Section within Region 1 judged to have achieved the highest excellence in advancing professionalism in the Region during the past year.

This award is made in memory of Alex Gruenwald, a past Director (1982-1983) of Region 1, who was a pioneer and leader in directing IEEE's PACE activities.

AWARD:
The award consists of a check to the winning Section in the amount of $1,000.

GUIDELINES:
The deadline for the receipt of nomination forms for the Region 1 Alex Gruenwald PACE Award for Excellence of PACE Programs is June 15th for the year in which the award is to be made. The award recipients will be determined at the Annual Region 1 Meeting which is normally held in the summer of fall of each year. One award may be given each year.

ELIGIBILITY AND SPONSORS:
Only the 22 sections which make up Region 1 are eligible to receive a Region 1 Alex Gruenwald Section PACE Award. Any IEEE Region 1 member of at least Senior Grade Level, who is currently in "good" membership standing in Region 1; or any Chapter, Subsection, or Section may sponsor a nomination for a Region 1 Alex Gruenwald Section PACE Award.

All nominations for this Region 1 PACE Award must be submitted on the official "Region 1 Alex Gruenwald Section PACE Award for Excellence of PACE Programs" Nomination Form. The nomination forms can be obtained by requesting them from the Chair of the Region 1 Awards and Recognition Committee or your Section Chair.

To nominate a candidate Region 1 Section:

1. Complete and sign the Region 1 Alex Gruenwald Section PACE Award for Excellence of PACE Programs nomination form.
If there are any questions, please contact the Chair of the Region 1 Awards and Recognition Committee.
2. If additional information is deemed advantageous to the submission, it may accompany the nomination form.
3. Obtain three signed endorsement letters. Send the completed form and the three letters to your Section Chair to forward to the Chair of the Region 1 Awards and Recognition Committee or send them directly to the Chair of the Region 1 Awards and Recognition Committee.

CRITERIA FOR AWARD:
As a minimum, each of the following criteria should be met by any Section being nominated for a Region 1 Alex Gruenwald Section PACE Award for Excellence of PACE Programs:

  1. The Section must have an active PACE Committee.
  2. The PACE Committee should meet regularly.
  3. The PACE Committee should have at least one major Section meeting per year and the attendance at that meeting must be reported to the Section Secretary using the L-31 Form obtained from IEEE headquarters.
  4. The PACE Chair must be an active member of the Section Executive Committee.
  5. The Following PACE programs/activities should be highlighted on the nomination form and will be reviewed and considered by the Awards and Recognition Committee in selecting the Award recipients:

ADMINISTRATION AND PRESENTATION:
All of the nominations for the Region 1 Alex Gruenwald Section PACE Award for Excellence of PACE Programs that are received by the deadline will be reviewed by the Region 1 Awards and Recognition Committee. All submissions must be made on the official form. Any submissions not using the proper form will not be reviewed and will be returned to the sponsor.

The Committee will make a determination as to which Section(s), if any, should receive an award and then will submit a formal recommendation to the Region 1 Executive Committee. This recommendation is usually made at the summer or fall meeting of the Executive Committee following the close of the awards year. The Executive Committee will then approve the Region 1 Section selected to receive the award. The Section receiving the award will be sent a check.
