PART A – SECTION SUMMARY

 

A.1 Executive Summary

    Section activity: A number of activities were organized during 2005 by the Nagoya Section. Total 15 events including 7 lectures in the areas of computer, communication, electric power, material development, automobile electronics and control engineering were successfully carried out. In particular as special program, we had 4 seminars for young researchers and school students.

    Membership activity: Nagoya Section has the following members: Fellow: 25, Senior Member: 33, Member: 703, Associate Member: 70, Student Member: 108, Total: 939.

    Section territory: IEEE Nagoya Section, one of the eight sections of IEEE Japan Council, is located in the city of Nagoya, central in Japan, and the section territory spreads out to Tokai Area (Aichi, Gifu, Mie, and Shizuoka Prefectures) and Hokuriku Area (Toyama, Ishikawa and Fukui Prefectures) in Japan.

 

A.2 Financial Report

    Total receipts during the year 2005 were JY 4,511,730 including the rebate of JY  2,571,336 from IEEE HQ. On the other hand, the total disbursements amount to JY 2,433,718. In addition, at the end of 2005, an amount of US$694.00 or JPY 81,781.76 is distributed as an additional rebate. This amount is now kept as a check at the treasurer for activities in the year 2006.

B.2 Professional and Continuing Education Activities

B.3 Students Activities

    Increasing student membership.

    A student awards were given for 8 excellent student presenters at Joint Convention of Institutes in Tokai Area related to Electrical, Electronics and Information Engineering.

    A student branch was established in Nagoya University. The officers of the branch are as follows:

PART C – GOALS AND PLANS

C.1 2006 Goals

    Enhancing the student activities

    Increasing the membership

    Nominations of members for Senior Member and Fellow of the Institute

    Organizing technical lectures and symposium, workshops on topics of interest, in some case as the collaboration with other institute

    Making close collaboration with other professional organizations related to Electrical Engineering and Electronics. The Nagoya Section will actively participate the 2006 Joint Convention of Institutes in Tokai Area related to Electrical, Electronics and Information Engineering held in Autumn of 2006.

    Promote the registration of potential organization in the IEEE REP list

 

C.2 Proposed Budget

    Based on the plans being finalized, annual expenditure of IEEE Nagoya Section for 2006 is estimated to be the order of JY 4,320,000.
