Region 10 Secretary

The duty of secretary includes reporting to IEEE HQ, Member and Geographic Activities Board (MGA Board) R10 Executive Committee (ExCom) members under the Director. Secretary also needs to ensure the smooth running of the meetings as well as to organize and manage, with the help of the IEEE Asia Pacific Office, at least 2 R10 ExCom meetings, 2 R10 Annual meetings, and Section Congress which takes place once every 3 years. Details are shown in the Table below.

• Date: Saturday January 10, 2009
• Venue: Hotel Royal, Macau, China
• Number of Attendee: 31 (EXCOM members and Advisory committee members)
• Summary:
  Professor Yong Jin Park, the new Region 10 Director for 2009 - 2010, welcomed all the EXCOM members and invitees to this meeting. He introduced EXCOM members of 2008 and 2009 including advisory committee members as well as staff from APO Centre in Singapore. He thanked all the past EXCOM members who had served the Committee for 2008. He mentioned five focus items for his term of office:
  • More benefit to members
  • More higher grade membership
  • More care for Sections/Chapters
  • More informative R10 homepage
  • Enhancing industrial relations.

• R10 Annual Meeting 2009
• Date: Saturday February 28 and March 01, 2009
• Venue: Melia Hotel, Hanoi, Vietnam
• Number of Attendee: 102 (EXCOM members, Advisory committee members, 53 chairs/ Representative delegates, 5 Council Chairs and VIPs from IEEE HQ)
• Summary:
  The R10 Director and 6 distinguished guests from IEEE HQ addressed the annual meeting in the morning session of 28 February 09. The remaining sessions for the first day were reserved for presentation of reports by R10 EXCOM members. This included presentation and discussion of R10 budget for 2009. A formal dinner and awards ceremony was held in the evening of the first day. On this occasion IEEE awards and 125th anniversary banners were also presented.
  On the second day, a series of presentations about the last TENCON 2008 in India, progress on TENCON 2009 in Singapore and plans on TENCON 2010 in Fukuoka, Japan to be hosted by IEEE Fukuoka Section and TENCON 2011 in Indonesia were presented.
