The Educational Activity Committee Report

The committee is accepting applications for the 2001 Employer Professional Development Award. If you wish to nominate a company, please contact Dr. Patrick Donohoe (p.donohoe@ieee.org), the IEEE Region 3 Educational Activities Committee Awards Chair. New items have been added to the IEEE Region 3 lending library. Among these are the following self study courses:
- Introduction to wireless and personal communications.
- Fundamentals of Radar.
- Satellite Communications.
- Theory and Applications of Spread Spectrum systems.
- Application of CDMA in wireless/personal communications.
The committee is sponsoring the Memphis Area Engineering and Science conference to be held at the Christian Brothers University, Memphis on May11, 2001. This is one of the avenues for exchanging knowledge between students, university educators and industry leaders. Last year conference was very successful in this aspect. Students participation was close to 25% of total number of participants.
Other activities involve the revision of the region 3 EAC web site section. New links to recently developed educational material have been added.
