IEEE Orlando Section Report - October 2004 Orlando section has organized ExCom meeting every month except for Aug. IEEE Orlando section is sponsoring AUTOTESTCON 2005. Around 175 booths had been sold for AUTOTESTCON 2005 at the conference, which was above the budgeted number of 150. ExCom invited Julio Rovi to give a seminar on "US EPA's Energy Star?" on Aug. 3 at ExCom meeting. This seminar discussed the history, spirit, operating strategies, and other related information of the Energy Star program (voluntary program). LEOS chapter invited Dr. David Wick from Sandia National Lab to give a seminar on forveated imaging on Friday, April 9. LEOS chapter invited Dr. I. C. Khoo, a Distinguished Professor at Pennsylvania State University, to give a seminar on April 20, 2004. His topic was "Photorefractivity in Liquid Crystals" and around 55 people attended this seminar. LEOS chapter invited Dr. Ashok V. Krishnamoorthy from Sun Microsystems to give a seminar on Intimate Integration of Vertical-cavity Surface-emitting Lasers with VLSI Circuits on June 14. On June 17, a joint activity between LEOS and INCOSE, including lab tour and pizza dinner was arranged at UCF. LEOS chapter invited Prof. Ursula Keller to visit UCF and gave two seminars in October. Prof. Keller is with Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. The seminar titles were: 1.Compact ultrafast lasers, and 2.Intense few-cycle optical pulse generation. More than 50 people attended the seminars. CS/RA/SMC joint chapter has been reactivated. Dr. Yi Guo from University of Central Florida served as new chapter chair. She arranged a seminar on Nonlinear PI Control by Dr. Z. P. Jiang from Polytechnic University on April 8. Student chapter organized a general meeting on Oct. 5th to introduce IEEE to students.
