Almost every major automotive manufacturer in the world has either built or is building a design / manufacturing facility in Region 3. Because of this automotive momentum, the State of South Carolina has announced the International Center for Automotive Research, ICAR. ICAR is currently being built in Greenville, South Carolina. The head of ICAR, Bob Geolas, will speak at the Piedmont Section meeting on October 28. The automotive systems series of meetings will continue through early next year. The goal of this series is to build momentum that can result in a regional automotive systems conference in the near future.
