The Jamaica Section continues to provide leadership in the area of electrical, electronics and computer engineering. 

A schedule of technical meetings held up to August is shown in Table I. The ExCom of the Section meets and plan activities for each upcoming monthly technical meeting. For more details, please visit the IEEE Jamaica Section Website at http://www.ewh.ieee.org/r3/jamaica.

 

The goals of the section were as follows:

 

1.              Increasing membership attendance and participation in meetings.

2.              Presenting more diversified technical presentations. 

3.              Increasing student participation in SoutheastCon.

4.              Sending Delegates to Regional and PACE Activities.

 

Membership Attendance at Meetings.

This objective was not fully met since attendance at meetings was somewhat similar to previous years with an average of 11 members in attendance. The members that attended participated effectively in the activities. 

Technical Presentations:

The Jamaica Section made a deliberate effort to present a wide range of topics to satisfy objective 2. The diversity of topics   presented are outlined in Table 1.

 

Student Branches:

Both student branches, The University of the West Indies and the University of Technology, Jamaica remain committed to the ideals of the IEEE. 

Communications Society Chapter

The Communications Society Chapter (ComSoc) of the IEEE Jamaica Section continues to make their contribution to the development of members in Area 9.
